the basics
A common saying in real life is "Life is precious," using that same term we could say "Our Builds are precious," as they are essentially the 'life' of STC. Yet similar to how life can be ended with a simple bullet to the head, the same can be said with a well deleted block to one of your builds. Therefore, the solution to both is likely to be the same - How do you increase your chances of survival? You could easily say "You can't, once its deleted its deleted," and although this is somewhat true - that doesn't mean you can't take safeguards to ensure that a deleter never makes it to your ship.
invisible shields
If you've read the Your Tools section then you'll know all about the transparent tool. When building a ship, which are the most vulnerable of all builds if you're smart with your buildings, who's to say you can't just put blocks in a cube around your ship. Then comes the question "Why not just build a cube then?" Well, with the transparent tool you can turn the blocks around invisible keeping the central ship still untampered with and available for all to see. The main idea of an invisible shield is to give you extra time if a deleter or anchorer comes. You only have to worry about 6 blocks before your entire ship.

Although they're going to inevitably get through, you could easily find a way to save your ship in the time it stalls. New research and development on Teleportation Technology even indicates it could be possible to teleport a moving ship. Testing has actually found you can teleport a ship thats moving, the vital question is can you teleport it if its anchored / how can you teleport yourself. Indeed, one day, all ships could have the technology to teleport out of existence if a deleter threatens them potentially, then again, if we can teleport that easily we'll probably stop using ships all together.
the wonders of no mesh
No Mesh is another great way to protect your ship. Although you won't be able to make a ship using any edit-meshed details to make it look nicer, used in combination with the other forms of protection you could have a very hard to kill ship. Something deleters sometime resort to is edit meshing a ship therefore either blocking your vision of them, or ruining your ship simply without touching it. The brilliance of No Mesh, is it cannot be edit meshed into a different shape, meaning if you want a wedge no mesh then use the default spawn blocks, and it cannot be expanded artificially. The end result is a ship immune to any damage the Edit Mesh tool can deal.

cloaking devices
Cloaking Devices utilize the art of hiding in plain sight. Although it may be impossible to completely camouflage a ship, you can make your ship hard to see through space at least. By getting a sphere and edit meshing it around your ship, followed by changing the color to black + potentially adding 100% reflectence, you could make a very hard to see ship if someone wasn't watching the skies for movement.

file mesh
File Mesh is more focused on planetary or interior protection of buildings. File Mesh is the raw form of copying a texture tool and not meshing it. Using File Mesh a person could create a literal shield around their planet stopping blocks from being dragged in while still allowing them to be flown inside or dropped. This means players could create completely secure docking bays and significant spam protection.
Similarly it could be used to cover interiors to stop blocks from being placed or dragged in meaning the inside is a near impenetrable shield. |
