conventional tools
Unlike what you might think when looking at this, this is not about "how to use the copy tool," although the copy tool does some rather neat stuff you probably don't know about, or the delete, move, etc... tools. This page is about the more advanced tools, or more specifically, the "More Tools" button and the tools inside of it. Although some of the tools inside are more exciting or useful then others, for instance - edit mesh, we'll cover most of them here.
anchor tool
Seeing as this is the Basic Database, we'll start at the basics, please bare with me. In order to use the anchor tool you'll need to use the More Tools button as explained above. Anchoring is a fairly simple concept with a very big role in the game. When you use your anchor tool, if you hover over a block it will either appear Red (Unanchored), or Green (Anchored). Anchoring is fairly common for creating space stations, making it so your ship can't be stolen, etc... As of September 2014, you are required to stand directly on or near a block to anchor it, it's unknown if this is a bug or required - but seeing as this will likely never be updated again, we'll just hope you can figure out yourself.

transparency & REFLECTence tools
Transparency and Reflect tools are fairly straight forward and simple. The transparency block turns blocks more transparent in intervals of 10% until it reaches 100% and is completely invisible. Keep in mind this won't turn blocks behind, or in if you made a cube, invisible as well (yes, I know, no cloaking devices for your ships).
Reflectence tools are of a rather similar manner. It uses the same scale and simply changes the reflectence of a block. As of a recent roblox update in August 2014, the tool will actually make blocks reflect light meaning it will make the block look like space which actually does make a neat cloaking device for space stations as you have to actually focus to see it. |
texture tools
The Texture Tool is a personal favorite that allows you to change the texture of close to any block in the game. The planets in the game are built using textures meaning you could build structures completely blended in aside from the fact that they aren't locked. It will make builds look more realistic and offer a greater variety rather then plain colors. Texture Tools can also be copied and turned into Delta Blocks, read About Blocks, if done correctly.

edit mesh tool
Edit Mesh is easily the most complicated tool in the game, and as such is both the most useful and most dangerous one to use. It has so many uses in STC that it has its own page in the Technology section. To put things quite simply as this is a section for the basics, Edit Mesh can generally do two things.
